 Polygala tenuifolia Willd:(Xi Ye Yuan Zhi or Thinleaf Milkwort Root) Polygala tenuifolia Willd.(Xi Ye Yuan Zhi) named Shan Cha Ye(Mountain Tea),Guang Gun Cha(Ruffian Tea),Xiao Ji Ke(Chicken Tree),Xian Cha(Line Tea),Shan Hu Ma(Mountain Benne),Mi Er Cha,Yan Zi Cao(Swallow Grass),Cao Yuan Zhi,Shi Er Yue Hua(December Flower), its a kind of perennial herb with height 25~40 cm,column root,cluster stems with diameter 1 mm,upper green.Cross leaves with line shape,0.8~4 cm length,0.5~1 mm width,sharp at top and narrow at end gradually,no hair or fluff, no leaf handle.Raceme slanting with length 5~12 cm,light blue in color,5 pieces flower bud,3 of them smaller in size,2 of them aside petal with egg shape,middle petal keel shape and bigger in size,tassel attachment growing on top,8 stamen,flower silk close up to sheath shape;pistil 1,ovary egg shape flat,2 chambers,bend flower pole,chapiter 2 split.Flat capsule fruit,heart shape,length and width 4~5 mm,green in color,seed egg shape and flat,deep brown color,white floss.Florescence may to july,fruit june to august.Prefer to sun, spread on hill side, roadside,out put from North of China and provinces such as Shan Xi,Gan Su,Shaan Xi,He Nan,An Hui, Jiang Xi,Jiang Su,Shan Dong,etc.
 

 Polygala sibirica L:(Luan Ye Yuan Zhi) stem colored greenish brown,soft pale grey brown fluff surfaced,Leaf oval shape with length 0.8~2 cm,3~6 mm width.Capsule fruit width less than 1 cm,short lash surfaced, other characters similar as Polygala tenuifolia Willd.
