The discipline involves surveyance, excavation and eventually analysis of data collected in order to learn more about the past. In broad scope, archaeology relies on cross-disciplinary research. It draws upon anthropology, history, art history, classics, ethnology, geography, geology, linguistics, physics, information sciences, chemistry, statistics, paleoecology, paleontology, paleozoology, paleoethnobotany, and paleobotany.

Incantations need to make medications effective, instructions for the incantations quoted:Its ritual:"You put powder of magnetite (and) powder of iron [into] pūru-oil;you recite the incantation over (it) seven times;the man rubs his penis, the women her vagina(with the oil),then he can have inter[course]."(Biggs,1967:33,line 15-17),other incantations mentioned a comparision of the penis with the string of a lyre and the use of this string in the ritual:"Let my penis be like a string of a lyre, that it will not slip out of her!",and the ritual:"you take the string of a lyre(and) tie three knots, you recite the incantation seven times and bind it on his right and left hands and he will have potency"(LKA no.101 rev.12-19 and duplicates, see Biggs,1967:35).
For the difference of impotence reasons:witchcraft and "Hand of Ištar",if a pig approaches figurines of the man and women it is the "Hand of Ištar",and if it does not approach it is witchcraft. In this case it was assumed that semen from the man had been put in a grave.
